Right here in America there is a modern day oil & gas boom. The Eagle Ford Shale (EFS) is quite possibly the largest single economic development in the history of the state of Texas. The play had more than a $25 billion dollar impact on the local South Texas economy in 2011.

Halliburton Brings Job Fair to SA area

Oil drilling at the Eagle Ford Shale formation in South Texas is booming and San Antonio may soon reap some of the benefits.
Halliburton is scouting locations in the area for a new facility that could bring several hundred high paying jobs.
"The reason they're looking at San Antonio is we've got a good large diverse work force that they don't have in certain areas over in Eagle Ford so it makes sense for them to consider us," Bexar County Judge Nelson Wolff said.
Wolff met with six Halliburton Officials in Houston on Thursday, along with former mayor Henry Cisneros, to discuss the options.
Tara Mulee, a spokeswoman for Halliburton, said the company hasn't finalized what kind of facility it will be or where it will be located, but Wolff said it could be huge.
"They're considering what they call a super center which means not only the oil field work that they would be doing in the shale formation but also information technology site, a site for chemists, a site for research," Mulee said.
Wolff said the company is scouting sites on the South side. Halliburton recently purchased 150 acres of land in southern Bexar County at the intersection of Loop 1604 and Interstate 37, but are now also considering optional sites near the intersection of Interstate 35 and Interstate 37.
Halliburton hopes to announce a decision in 30 to 60 days.
In the meantime, Halliburton is hiring in South Texas and at other sites across the nation. They've partnered with Workforce Solutions for a job fair on Tuesday, Aug. 30, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., at the Floresville Event Center located on S.H. 97.
They're looking for Class A drivers, operator assistance in frac, cement, coiled tubing, logging and perforating. Jobs are also available for oil field supervisors.
